  • Changing Colors: When changing colors, stop at the last two loops on the hook and pull the new color through those loops.

Instructions

Mushroom Stipe (with Contrast A)

  1. Foundation: Chain 2.

  2. 1st Round: Work 8 single crochets (sc) in the second chain from the hook. Place marker. (8 sc)

  3. Continue Rounds: Continue the following pattern without joining:

    • 2nd Round: 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc).
    • 3rd Round: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat around (24 sc).
    • 4th Round: *1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat around (32 sc).
    • 5th Round: *1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat (40 sc).
    • 6th Round: *1 sc in each of the next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat (48 sc).
    • 7th Round: *1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat (56 sc).
  4. Back Loop Only: 8th Round: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.

  5. Repeat 9th Round: Until the height from the marked round measures 6 inches (15 cm).

  6. Eyelet Round: Chain 2, then work 1 double crochet (dc) in each sc around.

  7. Final Round: Work 1 sc in each dc around.

  8. Fasten Off.

Drawstring (with Contrast A)

  • Foundation: Chain 70, fasten off.
  • Weaving: Weave the drawstring through the eyelet round.

Mushroom Cap (with Contrast B and then A)

  1. Base: Chain 2 and work 6 sc in the second chain.
  2. Shaping Rounds: Continue as follows:
    • 2nd Round: 2 sc in each sc (12 sc).
    • 3rd Round: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat (18 sc).
    • 4th Round: Continue with your pattern increasing until you reach 66 sc in the 11th round.
  3. Transition to Contrast A: Break B and join A at the end of the 15th round.
  4. Back Loops Only: Work 16th round in back loops, then continue to sc around for the next few rounds.
  5. Decrease Rounds: Begin decreasing your stitches gradually through the subsequent rounds until only 6 sc remain.
  6. Fasten Off.

Embellishment

  • With A, use short straight stitches to embroider spots onto the cap. This adds a fun detail that enhances the mushroom effect.

Strap (Assembly Component)

  • Foundation: Chain 150 or until your desired length is achieved, then fasten off.

Assembly

  1. Fold the mushroom stipe in half.
  2. Sew the strap to one side, threading it through the cap and down to the other side.
  3. Secure the other end of the strap to the opposite side.

Conclusion

And there you have it! You’ve crafted your very own Mushroom Crochet Purse. This project not only enhances your crochet skills but also results in a cute and functional accessory. Don’t forget to share your finished purse with friends, family, and the crochet community. Happy crocheting!
